With the Internet of things comes serious concerns regarding privacy and security in that is has become alarmingly common for adversaries to tamper with data. In an effort to combat this, SSL at UCSC was estbalished in 2020. SSL is an applied security group that was founded to address diverse range of security needs. Currently, SSL is comprised of five closely-knit groups, researching steganography and coding, randomness, storage, genomic security, and designing practical, real-world applications, collaborating to create more secure systems.

Undergraduate and graduate students at UCSC interested in working in the SSL can talk to one of the faculty or graduate students in the group they are interested in. Propspective graduate students interested in working in SSL should instead refer to the UCSC graduate admissions page.

For anything else, feel free to reach out to any of the faculty, staff, or students.
